Not All Who Wander Are Lost – Some Like The Detour

Category: Braille

One of the best things we can try to instill in our children at a young age is the love for the written word. How do you do that if your child cant see the written words and they’re much too young for audio books? The answer is braille. I am by no means an expert. I am still working on the classes from Hadley, which I would highly recommend to anyone wanting or needing to learn braille. The biggest thing I can stress is the importance of introducing it to our kids early. Just like experts say, kids are like sponges. They do most of their learning in the early years. If you can expose their fingers to the idea of tactile reading, the better prepared they will be.

You wouldn’t find it acceptable for a typically developing adult to be kept illiterate – so why should we allow our kids to be?

Hi! I am Meagan Peoples - a wife, mother, crafter, baker, and homesteader. Welcome to this glimpse of my life.
